spring break is almost over. so is the EP. in fact, right now i can hear the soft thud thud thud of the bass as it resonates through the walls of the mixing room. i’ve put the finishing touches on the artwork, swept up the glitter and put the caps on the sharpies. it’s time for a title.

30,000 ft.

just like that. 30 comma 000 ft period.

30,000 ft. in the air, headed to Los Angeles, leaving behind pink lights and a piece of my heart, not knowing WHAT I was going to create, no melodies in my head, no lyrics, just dead flies and apple pies but that’s alright, throughout the week of march 12 – march 19 we planted trees, and studied astronomy, and there were tears but not at night, cuz I just want a reaction, don’t wanna start a fight. 6 songs, one week, recorded, written, mixed and released. thank you mom dad and wil for believing in me and not shushing when i sing too loud – to vito neely and jc for bringing out sizzy, to zoe for 30,000 ft. (and maybe even suzy lee) to the haters for trash talkin and to the stargazers, yes, the stargazers, the stargazers. this ones for the stargazers.

Day four, four songs deep.

beautiful faces, turbulence, some nasty haters, lying diamonds, don’t gaze at the stars too intently, or you might float away.

right now, i’m coloring with metallic sharpies and spilling this jar of glitter making the artwork, zine-style. i want everything about this ep to be truthful. and no pictures, please. all of the artwork and all of the lyrics and melodies just from my hand, and from my head. no lens can capture this.

i have a few working titles. but before i reveal them, you can preview the lyrics to what is going to be track #1 JET BLACK

Spring Break 2011

pretty faces, beautiful faces. here we go, it’s SPRING BREAK 2011 of my freshman year of college at NYU. time for sick parties, sick mornings, hot bikinis, and cold coronas, right?

WRONG.

this spring break, i decided to west coast it and make an entire EP in los angeles in one week – that’s right all i get is one week to write, record, mix, and package en EP. and best believe we have 2 flipcams rolling at all times, so along with being able to download it for FREE as soon as you’re back in class, you’ll get to see what it was really like behind the scenes.

and nothing was pre-conceptualized, or pre-written. promise.

Spell On Me

hello, my name is sizzy rocket, and welcome to the launching pad – sizzyrocket.com. i love wearing glitter on my face, but you can’t really tell from this video. what you can tell from this video is that i like skeletons. i was wearing my giant skull mask a lot. they had to keep telling me to take it off. they said “rocket, we need to see your face!” so i went in the middle of the street and danced. a lot of cars honked, and they were mad because they had to drive around me. so then i got in an elevator and thrashed around because i thought someone had put a spell on me and an elevator is the safest place to get away from spells. they made me rip apart my in n out cheeseburger. i never got a new one. i am still craving a cheeseburger. so i wrote a song about cheeseburgers on my toy piano and kicked leaves in your face.
